In this lesser version of a popular play (and later opera) Colbert is cast in the title role as a featured cabaret girl. She meets Marshall, a married man, and the two enter into a torrid affair. This could have been a moving drama, but unfortunately the restrictions imposed by the Hays office drain the tempestuous life needed for the material to succeed.
