Dean Youngblood (Rob Lowe) is a talented young hockey player who's invited to try out for a major league team coached by Murray Chadwick (Ed Lauter). The smooth-skating Lowe makes the team and is befriended by veteran Derek Sutton (Patrick Swayze), while also pursuing the coach's daughter Jessie (Cynthia Gibb).
