Jacobs returns from Vietnam to the world of the Los Angeles ghettos he knows so well. Back on the street, he educates the younger O'Dell in the ways of gang life. When a member of their gang, which is knows as the Kingsmen, dies of a drug overdose, they go after the neighborhood pushers:
Cannon, the white bankroller, and Pendleton, who, ironically, is O'Dell's older brother. Unlike many cheap black exploitation films of the 1970s, YOUNGBLOOD takes a serious look at its subject. Its honest approach benefits from gutsy performances by the leads and tight, tension-filled direction.
