Pretentious little effort by De Sica features Delaroche and Castelnuovo as a Paris medical student and an Italian freelance photographer who meet and fall in love at a ball, where they retire to a secluded alcove. Later she discovers that she is pregnant. Castelnuovo is in a quandary, torn between making a commitment to this woman or keeping his free lifestyle.
