Young Wives' Tale

1951, Movie, NR, 78 mins

Loaded with cute slapstick, this film finds playwright Patrick and wife Greenwood sharing a house with an assorted cast of loonies. Cherry and Farr are another married couple, and Hepburn is a boarder. The major conflict is between the two married couples: Patrick and Greenwood are often harried, while Cherry and Farr are hopelessly efficient. But nothing in this house seems to go right, from a constant turnover of nannies to a dinner-stealing pooch. The zaniness builds and builds as the spouses fight and angry mixups constantly occur. The story is told in a wild, free-wheeling style that works well considering the thin plot line. Broad humor is the order of the day. leave a comment
