Filmed without much imagination, YOUNG JESSE JAMES is one of the lesser re-tellings of the famous outlaw's adventures. Stricklyn, playing the title character, can't adjust to life after the Civil War. Together with brother Dix, he joins Meyer in the famous Quantrill's Raiders. Later, Parker and Anders (as Cole Younger and Belle Starr, respectively) appear on the scene. Although he is just a mixed-up kid who really wants to settle down and become a farmer, Stricklyn begins robbing banks. Flat direction and an ineffectual supporting cast do little to help Stricklyn as he struggles to survive this weakly scripted film. leave a comment
