Young Donovan's Kid

Dix is a major crime figure who adopts Cooper, the young brother of a fellow gangster who was killed in a police raid. A child-care inspector removes the boy from his care, claiming Dix is a bad influence. This enrages the gangster, and he goes on a rampage. Shilling, the daughter of a local minister, persuades Dix to make an honest man of himself and gets him a job at the ironworks where she's employed. All appears well, but when the payroll is stolen, Dix is the first to be blamed. His former cronies have taken the cash and Dix recovers the money, getting wounded in the process.
