Despite capable handling there was little that could be done to overcome this inane plot in which Arabs kidnap Blackman as hostage for a couple of rare books. A subsequent turn of events allows McDermott, as Blackman's husband and an assistant to a smuggler of valuable books, to get his
wife back without having to forfeit the rare volumes. Again, the execution is top notch, but the witlessness of the story rankles.
