A skillfully scripted comedy about a young woman, Lane, who is determined to spend a weekend with boy friend Lynn before he leaves for a new job in Europe. Lane's mother, Bainter, an outspoken feminist (who, unknown to her daughter, had her own "free-love" adventure with poet Young years before), doesn't approve of the proposed excursion. She gives in, however, when Lane confronts her with her failure to live up to her own pronouncements. The lovebirds spend an uneventful weekend, but their return is greeted with uproar. Taking the advice of granny Robson, Lane accompanies Lynn on a transatlantic voyage that includes a shipboard tying of the knot. Not surprisingly, the Board of Censors demanded a few cuts before the picture could hit the screens, fearing that the audience would hit the ceiling. The publicity that followed only helped the film's box-office showing. leave a comment
