The Wrong Guys

1988, Movie, PG, 86 mins

starstarstarstar
Flat comedy featuring no less than five standup comics, all playing former members of a Cub Scout den who get together for a reunion. Once they gather at the home of Louie (Louie Anderson), he talks them into heading for Mt. Whitehead for a camping trip, putting them on a collision course with a couple of boyhood enemies, a female encounter group, and an escaped convict (John Goodman of TV's "Roseanne"). Funny though these guys may be on the nightclub circuit, their comic abilities are nowhere in evidence here, largely due to the lackluster script that borrows heavily from the "Police Academy" series, as well as MEATBALLS and CADDYSHACK. Still, it's an inoffensive picture, and parents need not be concerned about their own Cub Scouts watching it, since that age group seems to be THE WRONG GUYS' ideal target audience. leave a comment
