1999, Movie, R, 78 mins

An extended rap video directed by the ever-incompetent Albert Pyun and set in Detroit, where the inner city is being torn apart by warring factions. In an effort to settle the tensions, the leaders of the Ills (led by Ernie Hudson, Jr.) and the Locs (led by David Askew) meet in a warehouse, but are ambushed by the Drug Cartel (led by T.J. Storm). Suddenly, in crashes a scary team of renegade cops called The Wrecking Crew (commanded by Ice-T), who mow down everything in their path — the're a death squad sent from Chicago to clean things up because war is bad for business. The survivors of the initial onslaught do battle in the warehouse against psycho killer Ice-T, and there's some kind of demon stuff involved. Lots of attitude, posing and tough talk about representing the 'hood is slung, but everything is basically an excuse for bullets to fly and bodies to pile up. Who will be left standing, and who will care? Fan alert: Snoop Dog is listed in the credits, but merely shows up in the beginning in still photographs that depict a shady Chicago gangsta named Dra-man. leave a comment --Dennis Dermody
