1958, Movie, NR, 81 mins

This film opens with a dialog by Mohr explaining, "Not only will this picture communicate with you visually, but subconsciously through your brain." From there it's hardly a subconscious journey, as Mohr makes his wife confront her internal demons. He takes O'Donnell back to the mansion where as a child she witnessed a brutal axe murder. Of course this cures the poor woman of her horror complex, but not before the audience has been scared as well. Though short on action and long on dialog, this film does have some interesting moments of suspense as Mohr and O'Donnell lurk about the mansion. But the big pay off never really happens and the film comes full circle, using a strange and effective epilogue as Mohr returns to explain "what's been getting to your subconscious mind." Images of fluttering hands and crawling snakes are superimposed, causing an interesting and mildly disturbing effect. leave a comment
