An intelligent drama with elements of mystery; audiences may find their perspectives shifting about the central question: who is the victim and who the victimizer? Steiger is a salesman who feels trapped in a loveless, childless marriage to Bloom. While on the road, he picks up and sleeps with 19-year-old hitchhiker Geeson, who later shows up at his house, confronts his wife, and announces she's pregnant. Much goes unsaid in this persuasively naturalistic drama. Hall, an internationally acclaimed theatrical director, holds a fine cast under a tight rein. Originally released at 93 minutes, the film was expanded with footage shot by another director to create an inferior TV version. leave a comment
