Between Two Women

Erich von Stroheim wrote the soapy story for this sappy saga of Tone, an earnest surgeon who is in love with petite O'Sullivan. She loves him as well, but is trapped in a marriage with a layabout alcoholic (Nace), and her nursely compassion knows no bounds, so she is not about to leave the lad. Tone meets Bruce, who is rich and suffering from appendicitis. They are soon wed (the way to a woman's heart is through her appendix?). Bruce doesn't appreciate the hours Tone keeps in his medical practice and lets him know in no uncertain terms. Nace goes to the hospital for emergency surgery, but Tone is out high-stepping with his wife so Nace dies. With him out of the way...
