Cooper and Colbert are totally wasted in this film. Cooper merely wanders about in his role as a tramp-freighter captain. His crew rescues a drifting Navy boat containing a baby. Instead of turning the child in to authorities, Cooper plans to take him back to the States. When he advertises for a sea-going "mother" for the infant, Colbert enters the picture.
