An eerie tale in which Merrill and McCallum create a complicated scheme to get the domineering and crippled Cookson out of the way. Merrill becomes involved because Cookson is an unloving wife, while her niece offers a much more pleasant relationship; McCallum goes along because he is being forced by blackmail to work as her secretary.
