This suspenseful film with the inimitable Lupino opens with a bang as she drives a car at breakneck speed and crashes through a guardrail, falling into the river below. From there the film moves back in time to show Lupino, the daughter of a rich mill owner in a small southern town, marrying McNally, scion of the clan that gave the town its name but which has lately fallen on hard times.
