Wolf Song

Set in the 1840s in the trapper country of California and Canada, WOLF SONG was billed by Paramount as the "first musical film romance." Cooper stars as a disheveled Kentucky trapper who rides the trails with his friends Wolheim and Romanoff until he meets and falls in love with Velez. Her father, Vavitch, a Mexican don, is opposed to their romance, but rather than give up, Cooper elopes with the girl and takes her off to the mountains. They marry and Cooper settles into a life of domesticity. Before long, however, he yearns to be back in the wilderness with his trapper friends.
