Following the death of his father, young circus performer Anthony seeks out the mother he has never seen, Hergira. The eccentric woman has turned reclusive, living in a large house in a small town with only her caretaker, dwarf Dunn, as a companion. A powerful local resident covets her crumbling old house, believing it to be a suitable gift for his pampered son. The house is about to be auctioned off in payment of back taxes when Anthony arrives to make good the debt. He incurs the wrath of the local residents and must battle the town tough.
