The film starts well but begins disintegrating after the first 15 minutes. Baker and Houck come across the dying Pickens, who tells them of a treasure of diamonds he buried deep in a mountain wilderness. The two, accompanied by Neeley and Locke, go after the diamonds, but on their journey Houck, who plays an Irish-Indian named Half Moon O'Brien, senses the search party is being followed. Houck's uneasiness is accounted for when, during the middle of the search, it is discovered that the diamonds are under a curse, which is the reason the members of the party are disappearing one by one for no explainable reason. Large gaps in credibility and a lack of imagination make you hope the missing never return. The only real highlight is the Band's classic song "The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down" playing behind images of the South being ravaged by northern troops during the Civil War. leave a comment
