Director William Richert has turned Richard Condon's conspiracy novel about the insanity of the American power structure into a tense and wickedly funny black comedy. Jeff Bridges stars as the youngest son of a Kennedy-esque family whose older brother became president, but was then shot and killed. A dying man's claim that he had been the "second rifle" at the assassination sets in motion a bizarre series of events that leads Bridges deeper and deeper into the past.
