Barrie naturally becomes unraveled when her Navy pilot husband, Milland, is transfered to Pearl Harbor on the day of their wedding. She follows and gets an unexpected surprise in the form of an old boy friend, Taylor, who makes his way around the Pacific in his spiffy yacht. When her husband pays more attention to his maneuvers than he does to her, she goes sailing with Taylor. Milland learns of her extramarital activity and crashes his plane in the harbor, winding up court-martialed. Barrie, who sees the error of her ways, defends her husband, clears his name, and remains devoted to him. A handsome production with handsome leading players in one of the handsomest settings on the globe. The film earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography, but lost to THE GOOD EARTH. leave a comment
