A pleasing western which casts Heflin as a hard-edged mining engineer who loses his property in Mexico to a Mexican Federales colonel, Dolenz. Heflin joins a group of Pancho Villa's rebels, reclaims his mine, and falls in love with Adams, a female bandit who is as tough as she is pretty.
Originally photographed in 3-D, WINGS OF THE HAWK fortunately doesn't resort to the usual 3-D technique of throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the audience. Shown "straight" it retains a lively likableness, with plenty of action and some striking touches by director Boetticher.
