An energetic WW II tale which highlights the daring and courageous escapades of a Navy aircraft carrier on a mission in the Pacific. Ameche stars as the gutsy flight officer who leads squadron commander Andrews and his men against the Japanese. The film builds to an exciting climax at the battle of Midway. Well-researched (director Hathaway spent a great deal of time on board a carrier in preparation) and authentically photographed. The film earned an Oscar nomination for its screenplay.
