Director-writer Paul Mazursky creates a light, pleasant situation but never really gets at what makes his characters tick. Michael Ontkean and Ray Sharkey become incredibly close friends, not even allowing their mutual attraction to Margot Kidder to interfere with their friendship. Though Kidder is fond of both men, and they feel the same about her, she marries Ontkean.
