Fans of ABC Family's Wildfire had better brace themselves for a new arrival from across the pond. Charlotte Salt, a charming up-and-coming British-born actress, is joining the cast for the final three episodes of this season (starting tonight at 8 pm/ET) as Gillian, a wealthy heiress who splits apart one of the on-again-off-again romances on the show. One of my big guilty pleasures, Wildfire, had its second-season premiere tonight. We finally got to see what happened with Kris and the race. Turns out Tina Sharp was able to manipulate Wildfire and Kris and won the race. This is why you should never trust a pink power ranger. And meanwhile the Davis family is self-destructing, with Dani making a drunken scene at her father's shindig and Junior deciding to disinherit himself. Then he drives his Porsche into the lake and scares all his friends. Charming. So far I'm glad that Kris is smart enough to take some time away from him while he gets his life on track. I'm all for cliff-hanger endings, I've been patiently waiting all summer to find out what Luke said to Lorelai (please be "yes"), who is behind Veronica's door (please be Logan) and what the heck is in that hatch (please be something cool). However, now I'm left hanging, and in the worst way: It literally stopped in the middle of an important scene. Will Kris win her horse race and show up that nasty Tina? BP is less charming than ABC Family's other original series, Wildfire, and has much less attractive scenery. Honestly, I can't think of a time in recent years when I've seen worse blue-screen on series TV. They should just not set scenes on top of buildings if they can't get access to real New York City landscapes. Or maybe just have the series set in L.A.; there are prep schools, publishing companies and modeling agencies there. I guess having it set in a Cali school would bring up the obvious — and inevitable — comparisons to The O.C. I mean, Wildfire borrows liberally from The O.C., too, but it's all in the execution and frankly, I'm not buying this one. The "beautiful people" are the Richie Rich's at Sophie's (Sarah Foret) new school. Sophie is the only person on this show I can actually like; she's cute, sort of awkward, and Foret was on an episode of Gilmore Girls last year playing an overcaffeinate
