Curtis is an American musician working in Paris. He literally bumps into Kaufmann, a film star, while she is chasing her runaway poodle, Monsieur Cognac. The dog is aptly named, for he loves alcohol. So does Curtis, and the two end up going out on a drinking spree. Kaufmann and her
father, Aubuchon, find the two together. She falls in love with Curtis, and they marry over Aubuchon's objections. Monsieur Cognac has some objections of his own, becoming quite jealous of Curtis and ruining the couple's wedding night. Kaufmann cannot give up the dog for the honeymoon, which
