Except for its denouements, this is a competent British thriller, shot in the north country and starring Patrick as a horse owner whose pony is entered in the Grand National. Unfortunately for Patrick, he accidentally kills his dipsomaniac wife, Lister, and, in a panic, stuffs her body in
the trunk of another man's car. When the cops come to investigate, Patrick denies any knowledge of the events. The horse owner's neck is saved from the noose with a hackneyed, theatrical plot device that destroys the film's credibility.
