Natty traffic cop Jory gives a ticket to a politically powerful newspaper publisher (Connolly). Connolly threatens to break the policeman but is given a tongue lashing by his daughter Wray. This will not stop Connolly, who continues to publish anything he wants. He does, however, arrange
for Jory to get promoted and ends up being saved by him when an embezzler harmed by Connolly's yellow journalism enters his office with a gun. Later Wray is implicated in murder and arrested by Jory. Connolly is forced to print the story. Jory, now demoted due to Connolly's string pulling, goes
