Skelton, as the radio series sleuth known as "The Fox" (his airwave appearances are heralded by a vulpine howl), is vamped into traveling to Georgia by his sweetheart Rutherford, who hopes he can help a troubled ex-sorority sister. The latter's difficulty involves a hidden cache of gold
dating from the Civil War and the efforts of a local band of insiders to keep it quiet. Taken to be a treasure-seeker, Skelton is appropriately menaced and chased by backwoods bandits. Ragland plays a dual role as a reformed convict and a murderous escapee. Second in the slapstick series which
includes WHISTLING IN THE DARK (1941) and WHISTLING IN BROOKLYN (1943).
