Whirlpool: Review

Gene Tierney stars in this eerie melodrama from director Otto Preminger about a woman haunted by habitual kleptomania. Hypnotist Mel Ferrer comes to her aid, but he's got an ulterior motive: murder. It's been dismissed over the years as a rehash of Hitchcock's earlier Spellbound — also written by Ben Hecht — and Preminger all but disowned it, but this spooky film carries its own dark, compelling power.
