Whiffs

1975, Movie, PG, 90 mins

A weak vehicle that tries to promote Gould (a la Jerry Lewis) as a comedian with a bent toward slapstick. He plays a man being used in an experiment on germ warfare (it's never to be believed that any nut would allow for such a thing). The gas used causes him to suffer some nasty side effects that leave him acting like a chimpanzee with only a small bit of human intelligence. Leave it to a character of this nature to plot to use this same gas to go about robbing banks. The scriptwriter must have taken a good whiff of the gas himself each time he sat down at his typewriter. The tune "Now That We're in Love" by George Barrie and Sammy Cahn, earned an Oscar nomination for Best Song. leave a comment
