The wheeler-dealer owner of Caesar's Palace, Janssen, is given a lesson by his son, Drivas, when the latter visits after graduating from Princeton. Father wants his son to be a chip off the old block, a man's man with a head for business, but Drivas seems more his generation's "sensitive man" type--and is perhaps even a bit effeminate. The young man is certainly a committed heterosexual, however, which is solidly demonstrated when Janssen sends a chorus girl to "consult" with the boy on the matter. Drivas proves to have an even more astute business sense than his father, when he wrests control of Caesars Palace from Janssen. His intentions are honorable, however, because he takes over only to let the old man rest easily in the knowledge that the son is capable of surviving in the world without his father. The flashiness of Las Vegas is reflected in the fast pace, glittering exterior, and hardened shallowness of the Janssen character. leave a comment
