When Nature Calls: Review

Nearly every hackneyed movie and television plot and every cliched device is spoofed in this "Monty Python"-style outrage. It takes place in a movie theater, screening first trailers, then a film-within-a-film titled "The Outdoorsters," this dealing with a typical family that tires of urban pleasures and seeks a rustic idyll. In the family's travels, they acquire Indian acquaintances and pass a sign that reads "last drugs before the wilderness." Other treats include cameos by famous television personages (John Cameron Swayze tries to sell a watch), an Ingmar Bergman-like sequence (with the characters speaking Swedish), and a score that reprises every movie mood theme you've ever heard.
