When Johnny Comes Marching Home: Review

Lame story in which one-time singer Jones, a WW II GI back in the U.S. because of his heroics overseas, decides to avoid all the attention he's been receiving by slipping off to his old boardinghouse. What he finds is a bunch of girls trying to get a musical act together, an excuse for the film to exhibit some talent. Featured is the oddity of an all-woman orchestra. Songs and musical numbers include: "This Is It," "Say It with Dancing" (Don Raye, Gene De Paul), "This Is Worth Fighting For" (Edgar De Lange, Sammy Stept), "When Johnnie Comes Marching Home" (Louis Lambert, adapted by Buddy Kaye), "One of Us Has Gotta Go" (Inez James, Buddy Pepper), "We Must Be Vigilant" (Edgar Leslie, Joe Burke). leave a comment
