1943, Movie, NR, 75 mins

Showing Ann Miller's dancing legs seemed to be the sole motivation behind this rather ridiculous story in which the beautiful girl inherits a hotel in a ghost town. She and three friends set out for the place with the dream of making it into a hot spot, and are given assistance in shaping it up by a band of musicians who just happen to be stuck there. A false gold discovery makes the place a minor success, with Miller able to sell at a large profit. No harm done. Songs and musical numbers include: "$18.75" (Wally Anderson), "Ain't That Just Like a Man," "Short, Fat and 41" (Don Raye, Gene De Paul), "Nevada" (Mort Greene, Walter Donaldson), "Knocked Out Nocturne" (Jacques Press). Other songs by Walter Samuels, Saul Chaplin, Charles Newman, Lew Pollack, and Eddie Cherkose include: "By Order of the Interceptor Command," "Three Little Mosquitoes," "In Grandpa's Beard," "They're Countin' in the Mountains," "Where Am I Without You," "Taffy." leave a comment
