Jeff Perchick (Tom Mason), a Vietnam veteran, works as a cab driver to support both himself and the small restaurant run by his father, Hap (Martin Balsam). His real ambition is to become a syndicated cartoonist, a dream that seems doomed by the hard blows reality hands Jeff. Hap is about
to lose his diner because of bad business and a rent increase. And the young man has problems with former girl friend Lee (Chris Weatherhead) and his latest romance, Eren (Maura Shea). Told in anecdotal style, WHATEVER IT TAKES is too rambling. The performances often make up for the plot
inconsistencies but don't redeem this minor independent film.
