What A Widow!

1930, Movie, NR, 90 mins

Reportedly the picture that caused a split between multi-millionaire Joseph P. Kennedy and Swanson, the final break coming over a car--which Kennedy said he paid for but which Swanson found charged to her account--given to the man who thought up the title of this mess. Kennedy mustered every bit of his will power to see this picture through to production, thinking it a good idea. Though Swanson knew how dreadful it was destined to be, she went along to please her sugar daddy. A lot of money and hard work could have been saved had she used better judgment and refused. Swanson is a widow who discovers herself to be very rich on the death of her elderly husband. She sets off around the world on what seems like one long shopping spree, a good way to have her display as many clothes as possible. That's about it, though she does fall for another man and takes him to the altar. leave a comment
