West Of The Pecos

An unusually sexual western for its time which has Sleeper masquerading in boy's clothes while traveling through post-Civil War Texas. Dix thinks her a man until one day he has to rescue her from the Pecos River. Her clinging wet apparel is a dead giveaway for Dix, who agrees to keep her secret. An even odder scene occurs when Alba, interested in the masculine version of Sleeper, makes a not-to-subtle pass at the girl. The idea is no different than that of a picture like TOOTSIE (1982) which probably raised just as many eyebrows as WEST OF THE PECOS.
