Unhappy with his family full of ingrates, newspaper publisher Hull offers gangster Barry the princely sum of $25 to kill him. Intrigued by the offer, Barry meets Hull's family and falls in love with Evans, Hull's spoiled daughter. Barry and director George Sherman had teamed to do a number of successful westerns, and here ventured into a different genre for the first time. Barry proved to be quite effective as a gangster.
