A pretentious antiwar picture about four Vietnam vets who pool their money and take off for California by car. By the time they get to New Mexico they've blown all but $69 of their original $9,000 stake. They help themselves at a gas station and get shot at by the owner, causing the vets
to unload from the car an arsenal of weapons. They put on their Green Beret uniforms, shoot up the town (heavy-handedly called Hope), and then await the battle that is expected when the authorities arrive. Another in a series of post-Nam movies that are most notable for their depressing themes.
