Weekend Pass: Review
Yet another example of the low-budget sex comedy genre, this film at least has the distinction of portraying some group other than hormonally charged high-school students as protagonists. This time it's a group of sailors who get the title leave from their station in San Diego. The four prototypes include Bunker Hill (Chip McAllister), a black ex-gang member turned clean-cut type; Webster Adams (Patrick Hauser) as the token all-American; Paul Fricker (D.W. Brown), a would-be stand-up comic; and Lester Gidley (Peter Ellenstein) as the group's lovable nerd. The quartet goes on the prowl in LA, getting into predictable jams before ending up with suitable female counterparts. WEEKEND PASS, like so many films of its ilk, is moviemaking by numbers. It goes from one point to the next to complete the picture, with no surprises.
