Weekend At Dunkirk

In June, 1940, German troops, tanks, and airplanes force the British to evacuate their troops at Dunkirk. French soldiers, who also want to join the withdrawal so they can continue the fight against the invaders, must wait on the beaches; the British have priority on the boats. Spaak refuses to leave her home despite the carnage. She befriends some of the waiting French soldiers, including Belmondo, who saves her from rape by killing two of his fellow poilus. The waiting French are easy targets on the beach and they are slowly picked off. Finally deciding to flee, Spaak approaches the waiting Belmondo, only to see him die on the beach.
