Using leftover footage from 1950's KING SOLOMON'S MINES, this picture, weak in comparison, stars Montgomery in the role vacated by Stewart Granger. In 1919, Montgomery leads an expedition into the Dark Continent in search of the legendary mines, eventually locating chests overflowing with diamonds and jewels. The hard part is staying alive, and not all the members of the expedition manage to. Kurt Neumann, the director of countless B movies and the 1958 science-fiction classic THE FLY, died before this picture was released, ending a 30-year career. This was scripted by James Clavell, who authored the blockbuster novel SHOGUN. Watusi tribesmen are in reality UCLA basketball players. leave a comment
