War Of The Satellites: Review
Legendary Corman science-fiction stinker cranked out in two weeks to capitalize on the launching of Sputnik by the USSR. Earthlings are frustrated when they learn that their first manned spaceflight is going to be prevented by an angry alien who warns them that he will destroy the planet if they attempt such a stunt. Never being one to let itself be pushed around, the UN decides to go ahead with the plan, putting all its hopes in the hands of space scientist Devon. Unfortunately, Devon gets himself killed in a car crash. The world mourns and centers its hopes on another scientist, Miller. Surprisingly, Devon shows up at the UN very much alive and warns the assembled nations not to tamper with outer space. Miller suspects a trick and after a bit of digging discovers that the hostile aliens have resurrected the dead scientist and turned him into a mindless zombie. Nevertheless, he is allowed on the first spaceflight and, once in orbit, tries to crash the ship. Luckily Miller prevents this disaster and the mission is a success. Pretty weak, this looks as though it were conceived and shot in two weeks. Corman would have better luck with LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, which he shot in even less time.
