The second film in the Buford Pusser saga was supposed to have starred Pusser himself in the lead role, but the Tennessee sheriff was mysteriously killed in a car crash just before the film was shot. This called for a replacement, and since WALKING TALL star Joe Don Baker was unavailable (or uninterested), the studio hired big blond Bo Svenson in his stead. If you don't pay close attention to the actors, you might think you're watching the first film again. This one picks up just as the Tennessee-Mississippi crime conglomerate sends out more assassins to kill the ever-resilient supersheriff, Svenson. The big lug survives another half-dozen attempts on his life and pulls himself together enough to take his big stick and bash a few more heads. This one's not as violent as WALKING TALL, but it's even dumber. Believe it or not, Hollywood made a third film, FINAL CHAPTER-WALKING TALL, which was about the events that led to the making of this film. leave a comment
