Grable had such success with her film CONEY ISLAND (1943) that she was cast in virtually the same plot, remade with a Chicago setting, during the 1893 Columbian Exposition. She's a singer and dancer, employed at a Wabash Avenue casino (hence the title). Harris is the casino owner who wants Grable to keep working there, though she aspires to bigger things.
