Barrymore plays a backwoods farmer with a deep love for his hunting dogs, especially one that is killed by mean-spirited Digges. In retaliation Barrymore kills Digges, which doesn't help the love affair between Barrymore's son and Digges' daughter, but things manage to work themselves out, with the dog being missed more than Digges.
