In this story set in Russia in 1917, Francis plays a woman married to medical officer MacKenna, a man destined for trouble because of his inability to adapt to war. His wife goes about seducing Huston, the general who holds the fate of MacKenna in his hands. The twist to the yarn is that
Francis actually falls in love with the man she is trying to sway. The performances are satisfactory, but much of the plot is not developed effectively. This was Cukor's second time at the helm; he shared the duties with Louis Gasnier, but neither of them took very well to the story they were
trying to tell.
