The Villain Still Pursued Her

Producer Franklin, one-time head of RKO's theater chain, came up with the idea of transposing a traditional temperance melodrama of the stage to the silver screen. In a prolog, audiences were urged to hiss and boo the villain and cheer the hero. Cromwell, the hero, is suborned by villain Mowbray into consuming a glass of strong spirits, which immediately plunges him into the gutter at the expense of wife Louise and daughter Fisher. The lecherous Mowbray's evil intent is to win for himself the affections of the pure and comely Louise.
